Delhi, the capitol of India has number of Jain temples. Delhi being the capital of India has its history which dates back to the time of Mahabharat or even before that. After the independence the Delhi has expanded and number of new colonies has come up and huge population of Jains are spread all over the city. Now there are over 165 temples within Delhi and its surrounding area. But There is one famous and oldest ancient Digambar Jain temple and is known as Lal Mandir.

Shri Digambar Jain Lal Mandir is the oldest and best known Jain temple in Delhi dedicated to the 23rd Tirthankara, Parshvanath. It is situated opposite to the great Red Fort near Chandni Chowk. The Temple was constructed in the year 1656 made of red sandstone and is popularly known by devotees as the Lal Mandir “Red Temple”. The temple also homes a Charity Hospital for Birds and offers free treatment. It also offers services to birds rescued from the accidents and bird hawkers. Squirrels and other small animals are also treated here as free of cost.

Naya Mandir

Naya Temple is a famous Jain Temple. It is situated in Dharampura town, New Delhi. Mughal mperor Aurangzeb was built a Naya Mandir Temple. It is historical Jain temple. The famous of this temple is, that contains the large number of scripts, particularly the individual script of the Maha Purana of Acharya Jinasena. This temple was made by using polished white marble and also the arches were decorated with floral basis. The ceiling and wall of the Naya mandir was painted beautifully with gold and blue colour.

Ahinsa Sthal

Ahinsa Sthal is a Jain temple located in Mehrauli, Delhi. The main deity of the temple is Mahavira, the 24th and last Tirthankara of present half cycle of time. A magnificent statue of Tirthankara Mahavira is installed here.
