The Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan along with the Dausa District Adminstration organizes a two day festival in Abhaneri village every year. It is organized to promote the heritage of the area. With the multitude of colors and vivid shades of its rich culture, Rajasthan once again going to witness the beauty of music, dances and cultural events beginning with the vibrant Abhaneri Festival scheduled to be held from 1 October to 2 October 2016.
Abhaneri is an ancient 9th Century village in the Dausa district of northern Rajasthan; it is located 95km from Jaipur, towards the Jaipur-Agra highway. This village is famous for its post- Gupta and early medieval period heritage. The village has also contributed numerous pieces of sculpture to various museums across the world. The main attraction are Chand Baori step well and Harshat Mata Temple.
Abhaneri Festival is a mixture of live cultural evening, nukkad performances and village safari on camel carts. The step well is the venue for day long live cultural performances of mayur dance, terahtali, bhavai, chakri dance,Ghoomar, Pad Dangal , Kacchi Ghodi, Behrupia among others. Meanwhile, during the day the visitors can opt to visit the step-well or go for a safari on camel cart. Craftsmen and artisans are coming from all over the state to participate in the Art and Craft exhibition at Abhaneri.
How to Reach:
Location: Abhaneri is located within the Dausa district of Rajasthan. Abhaneri is also well connected by road as both government and private buses ply regularly between Abhaneri and Dausa, Agra, Jaipur, Ajmer, Alwar, Bharatpur and Bikaner. Abhaneri is well connected by rail through Bandikui, 8 kms from Abhaneri.
